Arafat’s “Illness”: biological warfare?

Because no known illness was detected in Arafat, and because the French 
Foreign Minister said yesterday that it was blood poisoning from an 
unknown source, we must examine the evaluation that the author of these 
words made on 30.10, that the illness of Arafat was produced in a 
biological facility in Nes Ziona (or in another lab in Israel or in the 
West that deals with biological warfare). How can a biological attack be 
executed that is based on advanced scientific knowledge (that is 
different from the use of known poisons – a matter in which Palestinians 
erred when they sent Arafat’s blood to be tested for known poisons)?

Israel is on the cutting edge of biological research (for example, in 
the department of membrane research in the Weizmann Institute). In the 
context of biologically-based destruction, let us look at one of the 
recent discoveries to which Israeli research made important 
contributions – natural killing cells, that constitute about 5%-10% of 
the cells of the immune system.

These cells are found mainly in blood and usually attack virus-infected 
cells and cancer cells. Natural killing cells appear at the first stages 
of the immune system’s response, and they are among the first that come 
into contact with the attackers. Killing cells are equipped with 
proteins that communicate with selective receptors that are located on 
virus-infected cells and on cancer cells; this communication activates 
the killer cell that begins its killing work. On the other hand, there 
are other proteins on the killer cells that recognize selective 
receptors of the body and that prevent them from destroying normal cells.

The receptors that signal to the killer cells to home in on 
virus-infected cells and on cancer cells are proteins located on the 
walls of the cells that are targeted for attack. The identification of 
those proteins is likely to enhance the ability of the killer cells to 
destroy the harmful cells. The first to discover such a protein, about 
three years ago, were members of a Hebrew University medical school team 
headed by Dr. Ofer Mandelboim, who worked with the group headed by Dr. 
Angel Porgador of Ben-Gurion University.

“When a cell is infected with a virus it calls for help. Its goal is to 
signal its location to the cells of the immune system so that they can 
home in on it in the shortest possible time,” explains Mandelboim. “To 
that end, immediately after the infection by a virus, the cell pulls to 
its surface a special protein that summons the killer cells. We were the 
first to find such a protein, that is shared by seven different familes 
of viruses.”

Did this discovery escape the observant gaze of those who deal in 
military applications?

Because the killing potential of those cells is so large, there 
developed in the body an alert verification system that controls their 
actions and prevents them from destroying normal cells. Thus a goal of 
the military researcher is, for example, is to disrupt this checking 
system, by producing a protein that can destroy a central element in 
that chain of control. Then, after the mechanism of defence and 
verification has been demolished, the killer cells will attack and 
indiscriminately destroy body cells or blood cells they find in their 
surroundings, which well explains Arafat’s low blood count.

Except that a more direct application of Prof. Mandelboim’s discovery is 
to dispatch the “calling” protein (the one that summons the killer 
cells) in a massive way to the area of a great many cells and to make it 
stick to the surface of body cells and especially of blood cells. It is 
also possible to use those two effects together to construct an 
extermination system.

Thus the killer cells will carry out the work of self-destruction, 
without the possibility of detection in laboratories geared to the 
identification of poisons. The doctors identified only the serious 
symptoms, but they will break their heads in vain in their efforts to 
find their source.

The way to a solution: for that purpose it is necessary to turn to 
competing laboratories that deal with that precise subject and with 
congruent subjects. Here the researchers will be pleased to be recruited 
for the job, and they will see it as a kind of challenge to a war of 
brains with the Israeli military laboratory.

In addition it is possible to follow the procedure on the micro level: 
to dilute a sample of the victim’s blood with healthy blood and to 
observe the self-destruction effect by means of a blood count. And on 
the micro level is necessary to conduct a long-term microscopic 
surveillance of what is happening to the blood, and to try to monitor 
processes like concentration and any accelerated movement of killer 
cells towards healthy cells and what follows from that.

Thus Israel has already been caught carrying out a targeted biological 
liquidation operation against Khaled Mash’al in Jordan, and was forced 
to provide an antidote to neutralize the attack.
